Tickets for Fun. go on sale Friday

Less than a week after the camp out for Dave + Oprah tickets, ticket distribution for another highly anticipated event will begin Friday morning.

Indie-pop band Fun. will take the stage Jan. 25 at John R. Emens Auditorium and students can purchase tickets starting 9 a.m. Friday.

There are more than 3,200 tickets available, said Robert Meyers, Emens director. The box office will sell the first 15 rows and 72 pit tickets for $10; all other tickets will be $5. This event is open for only Ball State students.

A student can bring a second student ID and obtain two tickets.

Robert Meyers said Fun. was the standout choice in committee talks of bringing a band to Ball State. Emens fit the criteria for a venue the band was willing to perform in; it was not an option to hold the event in Worthen Arena.

He said he would not be surprised if students came out early for tickets Friday.

“I hope there is a fair amount of excitement,” Meyers said. “It would be great if we could sell most or all of the seats [Friday], but only time will tell.”

Sophomore pre-business major Alyssa Mervin is a self-professed huge Fun. fan and plans to show up with friends at 7 a.m. Friday for tickets.

Mervin is a member of the street team for Fueled By Ramen, Fun.’s record label, and she said she was responsible for hanging up the fliers on campus for the concert a few weeks ago.

“I was excited beyond belief [when I found out Fun. was coming to BSU] because I considered going to one of their shows over the summer but tickets were $56,” Mervin said. “Seeing them for $10 on campus is a steal.”
