BREAKING: Armed robbery reported at New York and Abbott

Students were informed via public safety notice at approximately 7 a.m. Sunday of an armed robbery that took place in the early morning on New York Avenue and Abbott Street.

According to the public safety notice, the incident involved one female victim and a handgun was displayed.

The victim described the suspects as five black males in a black Lexus who were traveling west on Bethel Avenue.

The university encourages students to avoid walking alone at night and to take advantage of campus resources such as Charlie's Charter, which runs 6 p.m. until 3 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday.

Charlie's Charter is not available to students on Saturday and only operates to and from university property.
