Anderson man convicted in March attack on excise officer

A Delaware County resident who attacked an excise officer in March at a Muncie bar was found guilty of three charges Monday.

Branden Lee Farmer, Anderson, was found guilty of battery on law enforcement, battery with bodily injury and disorderly conduct.

According to a press release from the Indiana State Excise Police on March 3, an excise officer was attacked by several people while making an arrest at Doc's Music Hall.

Farmer jumped onto the officer's back, striking him with a closed fist on the back of his head.

Marianne Vorhees, Delaware County Circuit Court 1 judge, ordered that Farmer be held on a $20,000 bond.

Farmer will be sentenced on Oct. 15.
