Chegg gives students opportunity for Taylor Swift concert

With enough votes, Ball State may soon play host to a free Taylor Swift concert.

Chegg.com, a textbook rental company, has partnered with the country-pop star in hopes of supporting music education - a department that Chegg.com says "can often be overlooked and underestimated."

The high school or college with the most votes will be awarded a free concert in November and a grant for $10,000 to go toward its music program. Four other schools will also receive grants of the same amount.

Ball State junior Hayden Warner started Facebook and Twitter pages to get Ball State students to vote.

As a public relations major, Warner said she hopes to someday work in the country music industry. She said bringing awareness of the contest was an easy way for her to stay connected within the field she loves.

"Taylor Swift was my first concert," Warner said. "I think that if [she] were to come here, it would get other big acts to come here, too."

Students can visit taylorswiftoncampus.com and follow the links to like Swift's Facebook page to vote for Ball State. Liking other concert sponsors like Papa John's and VH1, and purchasing Swift's last single, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," can rack up more votes.

As of 8 p.m. Monday, Ball State had 2027 votes. The contest ends on September 23.
