Terre Haute postponed July 4 fireworks show

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett has postponed the western Indiana city's July 4 fireworks show.

The Tribune-Star reported that Bennett confirmed the move Saturday afternoon.

Bennett said the display has been might be postponed until Labor Day weekend, depending on weather conditions.

Nearly a quarter of Indiana has experienced an extreme drought. Most of the state's 92 counties have banned outdoor burning, and many communities have canceled July 4 fireworks shows as a precaution. The fireworks show planned for downtown Indianapolis on July 4 is still scheduled to go on, though Mayor Greg Ballard on Saturday banned personal use of firework.
