Police: Indiana teen held for allegedly stabbing man

ELLETTSVILLE, Ind. - A southern Indiana youth faces a preliminary attempted murder charge for allegedly stabbing a man during an argument over a video game.

The Herald-Times reports 18-year-old Savon D. Phillips was arrested Friday night on preliminary charges of attempted murder and battery with a deadly weapon. The Ellettsville teen remained jailed Sunday at the Monroe County Jail on a $250,000 surety bond.

Ellettsville Sgt. Russell Harris says the 19-year-old victim was bleeding from his abdomen when police arrived. The man underwent emergency surgery, but his condition wasn't immediately available Sunday.

Harris says witnesses said Phillips was sitting in a car when the victim approached and accused him of stealing an Xbox 360 video game console. The victim then slapped Phillips in the face before Phillips allegedly stabbed the man.
