WOMEN'S TENNIS: Cardinals looking to avoid winless MAC season

Rang, Sanders on lengthy losing streaks for Ball State

The Ball State women's tennis team will have an opportunity to do something it hasn't done since 2009 on Saturday - go winless in Mid-American Conference play.

Ball State is 5-14 overall, 0-7 in the MAC in 2012 and will face Miami (OH) to finish out its regular season Saturday at 1 p.m.

It will need an extraordinary performance in order to win against the RedHawks, who are a MAC-leading 7-0 this season.

Freshman Ashlyn Rang is on a cold streak and has lost six straight singles matches.

Her sophomore teammate, Kristel Sanders is also struggling of late, losing nine straight matches.

In 2011, the Cardinals lost to Miami (OH) 7-0, and haven't beaten them in over five years.

The only other time Ball State lost every conference match was in 1989.

Win or lose, the Cardinals will play in the first round of the MAC Championships Thursday at 1 p.m.
