Indy police arrest 13 marchers for blocking road during Trayvon Martin march

INDIANAPOLIS - Police have arrested 13 members of an Indianapolis church during a march to call attention to the shooting of Trayvon Martin.

The Indianapolis Star and WTHR-TV reported hundreds of members of Light of the World Christian Church took part in the demonstration following services Sunday. The 13 people arrested include the church's senior pastor-elect, Rev. David Hampton.

Dozens of officers on hand for the demonstration made the arrests after demonstrators joined arms and blocked a roadway, refusing to let traffic pass. Those arrested were led to a wagon and taken away from the scene.

Police said the road was blocked for about 45 minutes.

The Evansville Courier & Press reported a similar march in that city Saturday drew about 150 participants. No arrests were reported.
