In front of an announced crowd of 510 fans that seemed two times as large, Ball State upset No. 8 Ohio State in five sets (25-21, 23-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-12) to beat the Buckeyes for the first time since 2008. Junior Dan Wichmann led the offense in his second start of the season to a .268 attack percentage on the back of 60 assists. Ball State improved to 12-7 overall and 4-4 in the conference with the win, pushing it closer to a higher seeding in the MIVA Tournament.
