GYMNASTICS: Ball State prepares for MAC Championships

Cardinals will need Allen to do well in final meet

This weekend the Ball State Gymnastics team head to the Mid-American Conference Championships. The meet is being hosted at 2 p.m. Saturday by Northern Illinois University.

The Cardinals head into Saturday with a record of 4-8 overall and 2-4 in the MAC.

Inconsistency around that MAC is something that all the teams have been dealing with this season.

One consistent person that Ball State has been able to rely on has been Nicole Allen. Allen is the team's only all-around competitor this season. Last Thursday against Pittsburgh she placed second in the all-around competition.

"[Allen] is definitely in the running for going to regionals in the all-around," coach Nadalie Walsh said.

Michigan State is where Allen received her highest makes of the season. Allen had career-high scores in the all-around, beam and vaults with scores of 39.150, 9.9, 9.75.

The best floor routine this season was Aftyn Siemer. Siemer scored 9.85 tying for a first-place finish at Bowling Green.

Julie Cotter owns the highest bars score of the season with a 9.825. The career high score was achieved two times this season against Northern Illinois and Eastern Michigan.
