Indiana police plan crackdown on drunken driving

INDIANAPOLIS — Police throughout Indiana are gearing up for a crackdown on drunken driving.

More than 250 state and local law enforcement agencies are expected to take part in the effort that is scheduled to begin Friday and run through March 18. Police departments plan to conduct high-visibility enforcement activities designed specifically to identify impaired drivers. State police say the stepped up patrols could include saturation patrols and sobriety check points.

Motorists also will see an increased number of patrols looking for aggressive drivers and unrestrained motorists during the 17-day mobilization.

Operation Pull Over Blitz 70 is a statewide enforcement effort supported by federal funding.
