MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Battle between youth and experience opens 2012 season

Four of the five players on the 2011 senior class will play for the alumni

The Ball State men's volleyball team's season will kick off today with its annual Alumni match at 7:30 p.m. inside Worthen Arena.

The match will feature this year's current roster competing against former players on the team.

The alumni roster will consist of four of five seniors of the 2011 class, which includes Lee Meyer (2008-11), Marcus Imwalle (2008-11), Dominic Spadavecchio (2009-11) and Anders Nelson (2009-11).

The rest of roster will be made up of Matt Sprauge, Ian Peckler, Ethan Pheister, Todd Chamberlain, Zoran Grabovac, Josh Lee, Luis Castera, Andrew Braley, Evan Berg, Eric Schulte, and Scott McCoy, who played from 1972-73.

Last season, coach Joel Walton used 15 different players in the match. With a roster full of new players such as senior outside attacker transfer Jeff Aucoin and three different freshmen, unfamiliar faces will most likely see time on the court.

Ball State's official season will start next Friday at 7 p.m. as it travels to play St. Francis on the road.
