Attempted armed robbery leads to public safety notice

Ball State sent a public safety notice to students regarding an attempted armed robbery in the Village early Saturday morning.

Three people attempted to rob a student near the corner of University Avenue and Dill Street around 3:45 a.m., according to the campus-wide email. The three assailants, at least one of which was armed, were Caucasian and of "non-college age."

The public safety notice warns the Ball State community to stay safe when being out at night by not walking alone, remaining aware of surroundings and not talking on a cellphone or listening to music, which can cause distractions.

The notice also reminded students to use Charlie's Charter, even though it wasn't running during the attempted robbery which occurred at 3:45 a.m.

Charlie's Charter runs from 6 p.m.-3:30 a.m. on Sunday through Thursday and from 4-7 p.m on Friday.
