WOMEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING: Ball State hosts Doug Coers Invitational

Team returns numerous event winners from 2010 invitational

Coming off a victory a win at the IUPUI House of Champions last weekend, Ball State women's swimming and diving looks to stay unbeaten when it hosts the Doug Coers Invitational today.

A win for Ball State would not only put the squad at 6-0 on the season, but would give the team its second invitational win.

The Cardinals will have numerous swimmers returning that won events in last year's invitational, which will be helpful against a field of Lewis, Valparaiso, Findlay, Grand Valley, Robert Morris-Chicago and Marshall.

A few of the returning event winners for Ball State are sophomore Emily Wisolek, who won the 500 free, sophomore Haley Richter, who won the 200 IM, sophomore Brudgette Ruehl won in the 100 breast and 200 breast and junior Jillian Bischoff who won the 200 free.

Last season, Ball State beat out four other schools to win the Doug Coers Invitational with a score of 801. The Cardinals won in a dominating fashion, recording 29 top-three finishes and wins in all but four events. Marshall, who placed second last year, scored 503.5 points.

The meet will last two days, beginning today at 6 p.m. at Lewellen Aquatic Center. The second day will start at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
