Muncie gets first snowfall

Snow and rain has started to fall around campus, with 4 inches of snow expected by tomorrow due to a winter storm headed into Indiana this afternoon.

The National Weather Service's advisory said today's rain could begin changing to snow as early as this afternoon and continue into the evening.

The weather advisory will be in effect until 1 a.m. on Wednesday.

The National Weather Service blames an upper level low moving northeast from central Tennessee for the weather.

"This will allow rain to mix with and then changeover to snow this afternoon and continue this evening," the National Weather Service report said. "Sleet is also possible as the changeover occurs."

Visibility may be rapidly reduced, and roads may become slippery due to snow this afternoon, but especially into the evening.

The heaviest snow will occur mid-afternoon into the evening.

The National Weather Service said they encourage people who are in the area of the advisory to be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibility.

They also encourage people to use caution while traveling the roads.
