Central Indiana woman sentenced for role in toddler's death

FRANKFORT, Ind. — A central Indiana woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for her role in the beating death of her 2-year-old daughter.

A Clinton County judge on Monday ordered the sentence for 31-year-old Patience Kuhlman of Frankfort. She pleaded guilty to felony charges of child neglect in connection with the July 2009 death of Keaton Kuhlman.

Thirty-two-year-old Mitchell Clendenning was sentenced in May to 35 years in prison for the death of his girlfriend's daughter. Doctors found the girl had massive head injuries and blunt-force injuries to her chest and buttocks.

Deputy prosecutor Larry Sells tells the Journal & Courier (http://on.jconline.com/t4BKNj ) that Clendenning was more to blame for the death, but Kuhlman put her daughter at risk because Clendenning was a drug and alcohol addict.
