WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Ball State keeps rolling with sweep over Central Michigan

Cardinals defense shuts down Chippewas in second and third sets

The Ball State women's volleyball team lead in the Mid-American Conference West Division continued to increase Friday after it sweeping Central Michigan 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-14). 

After the Chippewas scored a .300 attack percentage in the first set, the Cardinals shut down their offense, holding them to rates of .152 and .068 in the second and third sets, respectively. 

Sophomore libero Catie Fredrich carried Ball State in the backcourt with 12 digs, while senior setter Brittany McGinnis added 10 digs of her own. 

Sophomore outside attacker Kylee Baker led the Ball State offense with 12 kills. Senior middle blocker Kelsey Brandl finished with 10 kills and five blocks, and sophomore right-side hitter Lauren Grant came off the bench to supply six kills and six blocks. 

Ball State (16-2, 5-0) will play Eastern Michigan Saturday at 7 p.m. on the road in an effort to extend its record in the MAC to a perfect 6-0.
