Women's golf earns highest GPA of all teams

Ball State student-athletes proved their skills in the classroom with the release of the NCAA's Graduate Success Rate and the overall 2010-11 grade-point average of all 18 of the school's sports teams.

Ball State earned a collective GPA of 3.064 in all of its official teams.

Fourteen of the 18 teams returned an average GPA higher than 3.0. Women's golf boasted the highest GPA with a 3.59, while the team with the lowest GPA averaged a 2.56.

The teams with highest five GPAs at Ball State were women's golf, women's swimming and diving, women's cross country, women's tennis and women's soccer, respectively.

The four teams failing to earn a GPA of 3.0 or above were football, men's basketball, women's basketball and baseball.

The NCAA also reported Ball State graduated 73 percent of its student athletes in a six-year period from the freshmen class of 2004-05.
