Despite building up debt and going into the job market in a bad economy, most people believe a college degree will keep them away from unemployment, according to a Gallup poll.
The poll showed that 8 percent of people with a high school degree or less are unemployed, while 26 percent of those people are underemployed, when a person works part time but desires a full time position. The poll also showed only 5 percent of college graduates are unemployed while 12 percent are underemployed.
The results show students aren't necessarily going to college for their dream job. The poll said 53 percent of students said they go to college to make more money, while only 33 percent are going to college to get a good job they like.
