Summer geothermal work, Scramble Light improvements to begin Monday

With most students and faculty gone for the summer, Facilities Planning and Management plans to start summer projects on Monday, affecting major campus streets, walkways and parking lots.

Safety improvements to the Scramble Light will leave the busiest campus intersection impassable. University officials recommend avoiding Riverside between Tillotson Avenue and Dill Street, and McKinley between University and Neely avenues, according to a notice from the Communication Center. The Indiana Department of Transportation suggests these detours.

The geothermal project will begin again next week, affecting access to several campus building and a major campus walkway.

Access to the cow path will be closed all summer. The parking lot on the east side of Park Hall, H4, will be closed until July 11.

More areas affected, according to an email sent by Facilities Planning and Management through the Communication Center:

-The entrance into the metered parking lot, P7, located along the north side of the Applied Technology building

-The dock area of the Art and Journalism Building

-The area south of the Applied Technology building between the service drive and Teachers College

-The area on the west and southwest sides of North Quad

-The sidewalk between DeHority Complex and Park Hall will be closed between May 9 and July 11

Questions related to access to campus buildings during construction can be directed to Jim Lowe, director of Facilities Planning and Management, at jlowe@bsu.edu or 765-285-2805.
