That week off sure went by fast.
Maybe it was spent visiting with family, moving to a new summer apartment or just taking a breather. Either way, it's time to get back to work.
You'll see in the paper that professors are taking these 2 1/2 months to continue research and do creative projects. What will you accomplish this summer? Will you learn a new skill, shed a couple pounds or become more of an expert in your field?
Most of you probably aren't taking a full load of classes, meaning there's more time to see friends and go bar hopping either in the Village or downtown.
Enjoy it if that's what you want to do. We all need a break from the hustle and bustle of the academic year. The summer is a good time to explore Muncie by checking out the small shops and family-owned restaurants.
That's what our feature and photo editors plan on doing. Each week they'll feature a new hidden treasure in Muncie.
This summer, you'll see more forum content with Quad Talks about what's important to you and some recent comments from our website and Twitter. You'll see updates on every step of the budget-cutting process and campus construction projects. You better believe we'll blow up "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" when it comes out July 15 along with all the big summer movies.
Look for more videos and slideshows on the site as well as blogs from students studying overseas and from our staff in Muncie. You can view them at bsudailynews.com/opinion/blogs.
Just because it's summer doesn't mean we'll be taking a break. Look for the Daily News on the stands Mondays and Thursdays along with daily updates at bsudailynews.com. Check us out on Facebook and Twitter, too.
And remember, this is your newspaper. Feel free to submit letters to the editor, or drop me an email at editor@bsudailynews.com with comments, ideas and questions.
It's going to be a good summer.
