MEN'S GOLF: Cardinals add recruit to 2011 class

Ball State signs two-time IHSAA All-State Golf member

Ball State added another name to the recruiting class of 2011.

Fort Wayne, Ind. native Albert Jennings signed a letter of intent to the university on Tuesday.

"I got quite a few offers," Jennings said. "I just did not feel comfortable with the other programs. They did not make me feel like I was going to progress in my golf career."

At Homestead High School, Jennings placed ninth in the IHSAA State Championships and was also named an IHSAA All-State Golf member.

Outside of high school, Jennings went on to greater heights. He had 30 statewide tournament victories on the junior tour. He is a National Champion on the Golf Channel's Drive.

Jennings also won Fort Wayne's Player of the Year two straight years.

Jennings said he feels comfortable about selecting Ball State.

"I feel good going into the summer and into next fall," he said. "There are a lot of good guys on the team. I want to be able to play the right way, and as long as I play to my potential, I'm happy."

In late November 2010, coach Mike Fleck signed a letter of intent with incoming freshman Zach Yinger from Sidney High School in Sidney, Ohio.

Fleck was not able to comment due to NCAA constraints.

With the addition of Jennings, the team will have young talent for the future.

The team will travel on Friday to Maineville, Ohio to play in the Mid-American Conference Championships.
