WOMEN'S TENNIS: Ball State hopes to break slump

Cardinals

If there was any reason to think the real tests for the women's tennis team has not started yet, then those doubts can be put to rest today as the Cardinals begin Mid-American Conference play at home against Eastern Michigan at 1 p.m.

The Cardinals have fallen into a slump by dropping their last two matches against Butler and Michigan State. Ball State's record sits at 6-8.

The Cardinals are young, but are hopful senior Georgina Thomson can lead the team to a win against Eastern Michigan.

Thomson is in a bit of a slump herself, losing her last four matches in both singles and doubles play.

One thing the Cardinals can look forward to is their play in the doubles portion of the match. They are 4-3 in their doubles matches as a team.

Coach Christine Bader often says winning the doubles point is a great way to start off a match.

If Freshman Kristel Sanders can continue  her streak of winning two of last three doubles matches, it can create more momentum to lead them into the singles portion of the match.

Bader was unavailable for comment.

The Cardinals will look to get two wins this weekend as they will stay at home to play Toledo on Sunday at home at 1 p.m.
