In-depth questions asked during final SGA debate

The slates campaigning for Student Government Association went head to head Thursday night, answering tough questions presented by the Ball State debate team.

Slates were asked about a number of topics, all pertaining to the actions they said they would take if they were elected.

"Every slate has concrete ideas on their platform that they want to do. What they haven't done is attempt to get the students involved in the way that we are," said Beau Browning, Campus Voice vice presidential candidate. "Our big thing is to, [as] it says in the title, be the voice of the campus."

Kayla Pickersgill, Catalyst presidential candidate, said her slate's experience would help them if they're elected.

"All of us have had experience in SGA," she said. "We've seen failures, and we've seen successes throughout it. ... One of the most important things about our platform is that all of these things are achievable."

Each slate was drilled with questions about their platform points and planned actions by debate team members Joel Franz, Farangisi Nozimzoda, J. Bryant and Alysha Hoffa.

"Both slates are definitely very well prepared, and they know their stuff, so that was very reassuring," Bryant said.

Approximately 50 students gathered in the Art and Journalism Building to hear their prospective candidates' viewpoints on campus issues.

Voting begins at 7:45 a.m. Monday and will continue until 6:15 p.m. Tuesday. Students can vote at bsu.edu/webapps/votebsu.
