Ball State facilities VP recommends no school Thursday

The leader of the grounds crew thinks classes be canceled Thursday.

"My recommendation [this morning] was if we have a lot of pedestrians out at 8 a.m., they are getting in the way of snow removal," said Kevin Kenyon, associate vice president of Facilities Planning and Management. "There is still going to be plenty of ice out there for the next few days."

Sidewalks throughout the university still had sheets of ice after the school opened at 11 a.m.

"It's been a little frustrating to guess exactly how long it's going to take to do certain things," Kenyon said.

Progress with the ice on sidewalks is going slower than expected, Kenyon said.

"There is no question that there are several pathways that are not in good shape and probably won't be for a day or more," he said.

Kenyon does not have the final say on whether to delay or cancel classes, but he did put in his recommendation to Randy Howard, vice president for business affairs and treasurer, who will make the ultimate decision.
