Audit: 2 tenured faculty members stole from Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.  — An audit at Purdue University found that two tenured faculty members have misappropriated funds.

The Journal & Courier of Lafayette said the theft was reported Friday during the Purdue board of trustees meeting on the West Lafayette campus.

Trustee Michael J. Birck is chairman of the audit and finance committee and said both cases were discovered during a 2010 audit.

He said in one case, the money was stolen over 10 years.

Birck and other officials are withholding the names of the faculty members, how much was stolen and other details.

Board lawyer Tony Benton said the investigation continues.
