TRACK AND FIELD: Cards to compete at Indiana Wesleyan

BSU featuring 28 athletes in Invitational

Saturday the track and field team is back in action at the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational.

The meet begins at 11 a.m. and features both men's and women's teams from across the state. Indiana Wesleyan features one of the only indoor eight lane tracks in the state.

Ball State will have 28 athletes competing in Saturday's event.

Janae Taylor who also competed last weekend in the 200 and 60-meter dash placing 7th and 9th is ready to run tomorrow in the 200 and 60-meter dash and help out a relay team in the 4x400.

"I would really like to win the 60 and the 2 (200 meter) I won last year so if I could win this year and hopefully get some better times that would be good," Taylor said.

Ball State teammates Tiffany Raber, Rebecca Lomax, Sharise Logwood and Brandi Robinson will also join Taylor in the 200-meter dash. Logwood will also join Taylor in the 60-meter dash.

Rebecca Lomax finished strong last weekend with a fourth place finish in both the high jump and pentathlon will compete tomorrow in the 60-meter hurdles, 4x200 relay team and high jump.

Judah Smith also is coming off a strong weekend and is Ball State's toped ranked runner participating in the 400-meter, 4x400 and a distance melody.

The Cardinals have compiled four relay teams to compete. The first is in the 4x200 including Sharise Logwood, Rebecca Lomax, Brandi Robinson and Janae Taylor. Hannah Lange, Janae Taylor, Thekla Lorenz, and Judah Smith will compete in the 4x400 meter race. The 4x800 team contains Emily Zets, Esther Tirado, MaryKate Mellen and Christine Talhelm. The finaly relay team is the distance medley including MaryKate Mellen, Emily Zets, Judah Smith and Allison Bishel.

"Distance runners can have an impact on getting us points" said Coach Randy Heisler. Distance runners for this weekend in the 3,000- meter are Allison Blanck, Allison Bishel and Kalsey Nielsen. Klsey Nielsen and Madeline Goheen are both running in the 5,000-meter.
