Snowy First Thursday celebrates the holidays

Downtown Muncie brought in the snowy season during the First Thursday gallery walk.

Held the first Thursday of every month, the gallery walk is dedicated to showcasing the downtown art galleries' new exhibits. This Thursday was different from the rest, as it was more focused towards the holiday season.

Christmas carolers the Magic City Music Men roamed through the streets. A special appearance from Santa Claus took place at Toys Forever Models and Hobbies, located on Walnut Street.

Cheryl Crowder, program manager of the Muncie Downtown Development Partnership, said this Thursday's event was downtown's kickoff to the holidays. Retailers looked forward to the night as businesses extended their normal operating hours, she said.

Brandon Mundell, Ball State alumnus and owner of Toys Forever Models and Hobbies, said it was a busy night and that he expected the month of December to be the area's busiest time of the year.
