Six Ball State players were named All-Mid-American Conference on Wednesday, though none received first-team honors.
Running back Eric Williams was honored twice by the conference, making second-team All-MAC as a kickoff returner and the third team as a running back. He was joined by kicker Ian McGarvey, defensive end Robert Eddins, safety Sean Baker, cornerback Jason Pinkston and offensive lineman Michael Switzer. Of the six Cardinals honored, only Eddins had been named All-MAC before in his career.
Baker was excluded from the first team despite making six interceptions, which tied him with Buffalo defensive back Domonic Cook for the most in the MAC.
The MAC also announced its specialty award winners, led by Northern Illinois running back Chad Spann and Kent State defensive lineman Roosevelt Nix. Spann won both MAC Offensive Player of the Year and the Vern Smith Leadership Award. Nix was named MAC Defensive Player of the Year and MAC Freshman of the Year.
Miami coach Michael Haywood was named MAC Coach of the Year after completing the biggest turnaround in Football Bowl Subdivision and leading the RedHawks to a MAC East championship. Miami was 1-11 a year ago, and is 8-4 going into Friday's MAC Championship Game against Northern Illinois.

Ball State baseball ties with Indiana Hoosiers in extra-inning thriller
