Weather service confirms tornado near Greenfield

GREENFIELD, Ind. — The National Weather Service has confirmed a ninth tornado struck Indiana during storms last week.

The weather service says an EF0 tornado with winds up to 85 mph touched down about 10 miles northeast of Greenfield on Oct. 26. Greenfield is east of Indianapolis.

The weather service says the tornado was on the ground for about half a mile, destroying several outbuildings and causing major damage to one home.

WTHR-TV says the damage was previously thought to have been caused by straight line winds.

No serious injuries or widespread damage was reported from the tornadoes. The weather service had previously confirmed eight tornadoes hit the state.
