Police review arrest of Notre Dame student put on YouTube

SOUTH BEND (AP) — St. Joseph County police are reviewing security camera tapes and interviewing police officers about the arrest of a Notre Dame student at a football game after a video of it drew more than 10,000 views on YouTube.

Assistant Police Chief Bill Redman told the South Bend Tribune the department was made aware of the video early Monday and is looking into the circumstances leading to the arrest.

The video shows a police sergeant pushing a student before placing him in handcuffs and arresting him on a charge of public intoxication.

Redman said the student who was arrested has not filed a complaint. The student was released on $150 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 2.
