FOOTBALL: Two Cardinals honored after breaking school records

Baker, McGarvey named MAC Players of the Week

After breaking a pair of Ball State career records, the Mid-American Conference recognized safety Sean Baker and kicker Ian McGarvey on Monday.

Baker was named MAC West Defensive Player of the Week, while McGarvey earned MAC West Special Teams Player of the Week honors for the second week in a row.

Baker broke the Cardinals' career interception record with two picks in Friday night's 20-3 victory at Buffalo. The junior has 16 career interceptions. Baker also returned a fumble 26 yards for a touchdown.

McGarvey made two field goals and kicked two extra points, Friday pushing him into the all-time lead for points scored at Ball State with 284. The senior broke the previous mark of 279.

Northern Illinois quarterback Chandler Harnish was named MAC West Offensive Player of the Week. The Cardinals will play their final game of the season Saturday against the Huskies.
