In an attempt to bring awareness to the local music scene and its musicians and artists, John R. Emens Auditorium is collaborating with Hidden Relic and HippieSeed.com to present the Frosty Moon Midwest Summit.
Taking place in Emens on Saturday at 5:30 p.m., the indoor music festival will include vendors, bands and contests. A bar will be located in the balcony lobby, which will offer alcoholic beverages for those who are of age. They will also be selling non-alcoholic beverages.
The festival will showcase some of the Midwest's most talented musicians like Catch Curtis with Mikial Robertson, Embryonic Fluid, Megan Maudlin, SixDollarSuit, MC Sparkplug, Midwest Hype, The New Old Calvary, The Waldemere Revival, Twin Cats and UV Hippo.
The music will be non-stop, and the overall vibe of the entire show will be positive and creative, the owner of Hidden Relic Productions, Joey Buttram, said.
"We're very honored as a company to bring this event to Muncie, and we hope everyone will give it a try. It's cheap, the bands are top notch, the light show will be like nowhere else, vendors will have awesome products, and overall the vibe will be very pleasant," Buttram said. "We can't wait for Saturday night."
One of the main goals for the Frosty Moon Summit is to create an event on campus that Ball State students of all ages can attend, according to Darcy Wood, associate director of Emens Auditorium.
"Nothing like this has ever taken place at Emens on this scale. This event is meant to recreate an outdoor musical festival as much as possible," Wood said. "We want people who love great music and want to support the music scene to come in and have an amazing time. It is high quality entertainment for a low price."
The lead singer of the Waldemere Revival, Steve Martin, said a lot of cool things will be happening, and it will be a first for Ball State University. Students and non-students should attend this event for the good music and the good times. He describes his music as something that is true to him and the rest of the band members and what they do. They try to put everything they have into just one song. They don't just write a song to make it sound good; everything they write is emotional and personal to them.
Frosty Moon is an all-ages event. Tickets are $10 and $7 for Ball State students with I.D. Tickets can be purchased at Emens Auditorium Box Office or online through Ticketmaster. Tickets can be purchased the day of the event (all day), and the ticket office will open at 4p.m. on Saturday.
