Pence stops by Muncie in midst of tour

Congressman Mike Pence came to speak at a Republican rally for fellow Republican Doug Eckerty.

Eckerty is running for the 26th District Indiana Senate seat. Despite the rally starting nearly 30 minutes late, almost 100 people came together for the outdoor rally.

Pence began his tour yesterday, promoting voting for the midterm election on Tuesday.

Pence said students are a crucial role in this year's midterm election.

"[Students voting in the midterm election] is critical," Pence said. "College seems to be a time when people realize you don't have to wait to become involved as a citizen."

Mike Thomas of Ball State's College Republicans said there is plenty of room for involvement for those who are looking to get involved with campaigns and elections.

"If they still want to be active, there is a lot that needs done," Thomas said. "I know a couple of candidates that need some walking done for them. We're handing out stuff on Friday and on Monday at the Scramble Light."
