Indiana's Mike Pence may run for president in 2012

Another Indiana politician may be seeking the a bid for the 2012 presidency, politico.com reports.

House Republican Conference Chairman Mike Pence is considering stepping down from his post in the GOP leadership, leading some to believe that he might be preparing to run for president in the next election.

For now, his eye is on helping win back the GOP majority in the Congress, Matt Lloyd, a Pence spokeman, said in the Politico report.

The Indianapolis Star and other outlets have reported that Gov. Mitch Daniels may be seeking a presidential bid as well, based on the fact that he has attended several benefit dinners lately.

One dinner host said the proceeds could help fuel Daniels' bid, according to the Star.

It looks as if Pence has plenty of support within the conservative movement, according to Politico, which reports he won the presidential straw poll at last month's Values Voter Summit.
