Changes were made to this year's Elliott Hall Haunted Ball, and not all students were happy with the result.
The biggest change to the Haunted Ball was that it was not held at Elliott Hall. After 34 years of holding the event at Elliott Hall, the ball was moved to the L.A. Pittenger Student Center Ballroom.
The ball was moved for the benefit of disabled students. Elliott Hall does not have an elevator, and the ball has traditionally been held on the top floor.
Talia Ratican, Elliott Hall resident and co-organzier, said the change was not one the planning committee took lightly.
"Hopefully, we'll have it more fine tuned next year," Ratican said. "It was a five-month struggle before we ended up having to officially relocate."
About 75 students attended for a night of dancing and cookies. All other activities had to be cut due to the location change.
Junior theater and Spanish major Teah Aldred said she preferred the ball being in Elliott Hall.
"The library is gorgeous, and it puts you in the mood for Halloween," Aldred said. "It is also a smaller venue, so people aren't quite as nervous about dancing."
The event is always held for the benefit of charity. This year, all proceeds will go to a local battered women's shelter.
Students attending were encouraged to dress in costume and bring their friends to dance under the black light-lit room.
Sophomore elementary education major Rachel Byam said she thought it would be more fun if more people attended.
"It's all right," Byam said. "I've had fun dancing. It is overall wicked fun."
