KENT, Ohio – Kent State used a 61-yard interception return by Dorian Wood to take control in the third quarter against Ball State, taking a 20-14 lead into the fourth quarter.
Wood's interception return gave the Golden Flashes a 13-point lead early in the third quarter. The Cardinals were able to get back within a touchdown when Keith Wenning found wide receiver Otis Brown wide open over the middle for a 32-yard touchdown.
Ball State was driving late in the quarter when running back Eric Williams fumbled at the Kent State 33-yard line, ending the Cardinals' scoring chance.
