FOOTBALL: Ball State leads Central Michigan 14-3 at halftime

MOUNT PLESANT, Mich. – Playing like the favorites instead of two-touchdown underdogs, Ball State takes a 14-3 lead at Central Michigan into halftime.

Running back Eric Williams scored his second touchdown of the day on a three-yard rush early in the second quarter to give the Cardinals an 11-point advantage. His first touchdown came on a 56-yard reception from Keith Wenning in the first quarter.

Ball State has controlled the pace of the game, gaining 222 yards on offense in the first half. Last week at No. 17 Iowa, Ball State had just 112 yards of offense all game. Big holes for the Cardinals' running backs opened throughout the first half, allowing them to rush for 148 yards. Cory Sykes leads Ball State with 76 yards on six carries.

The Cardinals' 14 points in the first half are more than they have scored in the last two games combined.

After having just three sacks all season, Ball State sacked Central Michigan quarterback Ryan Radcliff four times in the first half. Defensive end Robert Eddins has three of the sacks.
