For the first time in her collegiate career, senior Maura Sawicki was named the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
Sawicki earned the honor for her performances against Kent State and Ohio last weekend. She made four defensive saves against Ohio, two against Kent State and also recorded an assist and two shots.
The senior leads the team with nine defensive saves, accounting for half of the total team saves. Sawicki is currently tied for first in the NCAA in defensive saves. She also leads all active Ball State players with 11 career saves.
Rachel Miller of Kent State was named the MAC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring three goals and adding three assists last week in matches against Ball State and Miami University.
