FIELD HOCKEY: Ball State hopes to snap losing streak Friday

Ball State hopes to break a three-game losing streak Friday at Mid-American Conference foe Missouri State.

After falling to Ohio and Kent State last weekend, Ball State is 2-5 in the MAC. The Bobcats and the Golden Flashes are in a three-way tie for first place in the conference. Miami is the other first-place team.

Missouri State played at home last weekend, splitting a pair of games with Central Michigan.

Earlier this week, Ball State senior forward/midfielder Maura Sawicki was named the MAC Defensive Player of the Week. She is tied for first in the nation in defensive saves with Catherine Myrick of Robert Morris. Sawicki recorded six saves last weekend and one assist.

Sunday, the team returns home to face Indiana. The Hoosiers are 3-0 in road nonconference games, while the Cardinals are 2-1 against nonconference teams at home.

Indiana beat Ball State 2-1 last season.
