Twenty lucky acts will take the stage tonight as they compete in the annual homecoming talent show.
The acts were chosen from a pool of 70 auditions, which set a record for the largest entry in the talent show history.
"We had more people try out this year," general Chairwoman Chanel Richards said. "We had close to 70 auditions but we only took 20 acts. It was really hard for the judges to pick the acts."
There are eight categories in which students can compete. The categories range from vocals to freestyle.
"The male and female vocal category is always a popular one," Richards said.
This year the talent show is offering an incentive for students to stop in and see the show.
The talent show has paired with Apple and the Ball State Computer Store, and is giving away a free iPod Nano during this year's show.
"Normally we have two sponsors for the show, SGA and the Alumni Associate," talent search Chairwoman Danielle Larison said. "This year, Apple and the computer store is pairing with us as well."
While one lucky student is taking home an iPod, the talent search contestants are competing for scholarships.
Each winner of the various categories and the overall winner of the talent search will be taking home a $500 scholarship.
"The Alumni Association has given us $4,500 for scholarship awards," Larison said. "That money goes directly into their bursars accounts, we don't give cash prizes."
Students can attend the talent search for free at 7:30 p.m. in Emens Auditorium.
