Nationally recognized architect Robin Guenther will be on campus today to deliver her lecture titled "Sustainable Health Care Architecture: How Health Care is Responding to Ideas About Buildings and Health Both Nationally and Globally."
Guenther was the main contributing author to the Green Guide for Health Care, an online source geared towards sustainable building designs, according to a press release from the College of Architecture and Planning.
Michel Mounayar, associate dean of the College of Architecture and Planning, said having speakers such as Guenther on campus is important for students.
"We are a professional school, and it's always good to bring in someone who can bring the profession here," Mounayar said. "For students, [Guenther] is an example. We like to get lecturers to extend ourselves to major professionals."
Guenther has spent more than 30 years designing environmentally sustainable medical facilities that help medical officials be as effective as possible. She has helped make nearly every medical institution in New York City healthier and more welcoming, according to the press release.
Guenther is co-author of the book "Sustainable Healthcare Architecture" and has had projects receive LEED certification, which is an internationally recognized green building certification system.
The lecture will take place at 4 p.m. in the Architecture Building Room 100 and is free for Ball State faculty, staff and students.
