Splash Bash is final summer party for Ball State students

Ball State students bid summer farewell Thursday at the University Program Board's Splash Bash.

The Splash Bash had free food, music, tie-dye T-shirts and hydro balls. It was the first time UPB did a Splash Bash.

Sophomore public relations major Jordan Habayeb serves as a program director for UPB and felt the event had a positive turnout.

"Within the first 30 minutes, almost 300 people came through the door," he said.

The hydro balls and tie-dying were particularly popular with the event running out of T-shirts near the end.

Junior telecommunications major Barbie Butler was excited for a Thursday event because that's when she has the most free time. She said she really wanted to try the inflatable balls.

"I just kept spinning, and it was really hard to balance," she said.

She said the hydro balls were a lot of fun but really hot and that she is looking forward to other fall UPB events.

Dillon Kimmel, vice president of UPB marketing, said this year's attendance for UPB events has been great. He credits the nice weather for helping bolster participation.

A few upcoming fall events from UPB are the annual haunted house and Fall Fest. Fall Fest will have a live band, Walk the Moon, as well as student acts.
