Hill: Dems should get 2 more years to fix economy

Indiana Democratic Rep. Baron Hill told a newspaper's editorial board that voters should give Democrats two more years to help pull the country out of economic slump.

Hill told The Courier-Journal of Louisville, Ky., on Tuesday that Democrats should be booted from office in 2012 if the unemployment rate hasn't declined to about 5 percent by then. The national jobless rate was 9.6 percent in August.

Hill says the economy can make that much progress if Democrats are in charge.

Hill faces Republican Todd Young and Libertarian Greg Knott in the race for southern Indiana's 9th Congressional District.

Young urged voters to be wary of Hill's promises and says the country can't afford another two years of more spending and more government under President Barack Obama.
