Cultural Cook-Off at Park Hall today

The Cultural Cook-Off offers a chance to sample student teams' regional and international dishes for free on Wednesday.

The event is from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Park Hall Multipurpose Room, but samples are available on a first-come, first-served basis. More than 10 teams are participating, which will bring a variety of dishes to the event.

Residence Hall Association President Chelsea Wheeler said the event will give students an opportunity to get out and meet people of different cultures in a fun and competitive environment.

"I know a lot of teams are doing really different dishes," Wheeler said. "They really want to expand people's cultural knowledge ... I know people are really going all out this year".

Prizes will be awarded by a panel of Ball State Chefs, including $80 of dining vouchers and cooking lessons from the chefs. There will also be a People's Choice Award which is determined by the votes of those attending the Cultural Cook-Off.

The event is sponsored by the RHA, BSU Dining, University Apartments and Rinker Center for International Programs.
