Career Fair at Ball State hosts more than 100 employers

Students dressed in button-up shirts, ties and suit jackets came in and out of Worthen Arena on Wednesday for the Ball State Fall Career Fair.

More than 100 employers, including corporations, government agencies and nonprofit organizations, offered a variety of options for internships and full-time positions.

Julie Cook, who was representing electronics manufacturer Samtec Inc., offered internships for students. However, she said the company tries to retain students as well.

"The variety of students at Ball State University provides us with potential, full-time employees," she said.

From noon to 4 p.m., students handed out résumés and grabbed information packets at booths with banners and posters displaying business names.

Ben Adolph, a junior majoring in accounting, prepared his résumé in his business management class.

"I was looking for an accounting internship for the spring or summer in 2011," he said.

Having scouted several accounting firms, Adolph found WESCO Distribution, an industrial supplier that could offer the best options for his future.

Including the Fall Career Fair, the Career Center organizes three jobs fair each year. The Cardinal Job Fair and the Teacher Fair are held during the Spring Semester.
