Air Jam forms available at Ball State's first Homecoming meeting

Ball State's 2010 Homecoming will begin with an informational meeting at 9:30 p.m. at the Alumni Center.

Those attending will receive information and entry forms for all of the Homecoming events this year, including Air Jam.

Student groups attending the meeting will Ashley points. Ashley points is a scoring system that places student groups in competition with one another during Homecoming Week. They compete through participation during the week's events. Tonight will be the first opportunity to score points once event tickets are purchased at the meeting.

Michelle Johnson, director of alumni special events, said attendance for the informational meeting is expected to be higher this year.

"We think more people will come out because Air Jam forms will be handed out and accepted the following day," she said. "About 300 people usually attend."

Air Jam is an annual contest in which student groups lip sync to popular songs while incorporating the Homecoming theme. Only the first 20 groups to sign up are accepted. The next seven groups to sign up serve as alternates.

This year's Homecoming theme is "Rock the Red," and the Homecoming football game is Oct. 9.
