The Rinker Center hosts study abroad fair today

Today, the Rinker Center for International Programs is featuring the Study Abroad Fair in the Art and Journalism Building. The fair is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Atrium and highlights many study abroad programs to various countries.

Students can study in more than 90 different countries and 250 locations. While language experience is beneficial, it is not necessary in order to study abroad. Students who do not speak foreign languages are not limited to English-speaking countries such as Australia and the United Kingdom. Countries such as Italy, Japan, Sweden and Thailand offer courses taught in English.

Many students worry that the cost of studying abroad might be too high for their budget. While some programs are more expensive, many of the programs offered cost the same as a semester spent on campus. In addition, scholarships are available, and students who already receive loans, grants and scholarships can apply those to the cost of studying abroad.

Sophomore photography major Hannah Baker will be studying in London during the Spring Semester. She plans on living in a flat with two of her close friends.

"The fact that I will have my friends close by is a huge comfort," Baker said. "If they weren't going too, I'd be really nervous about being on my own. But since we will be together, I am incredibly excited. I can't wait to get over there and see everything. London will be amazing."
