Indiana's U.S. Senate candidates agree to 3 debates in fall

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Indiana Debate Commission says the three candidates in this fall's U.S. Senate election have agreed in principle to take part in three televised debates.

The nonpartisan commission announced Thursday that it was seeking sites for the debates between Republican Dan Coats, Democrat Brad Ellsworth and Libertarian Rebecca Sink-Burris.

Venues have until July 16 to submit applications to hold one of the debates, after which the commission will select sites and dates.

The commission put on three debates for the 2008 governor's race and a debate in April among the candidates in the Republican U.S. Senate primary.
