A robbery near the Cow Path late Wednesday night was a physical finale following a string of assaults this year at Ball State University, including one that was fabricated and a series of slaps on the buttocks.
Ryan Dismore, 19, was robbed and cut with a knife while on his way to Studebaker Complex.
Bob Fey, associate director of Public Safety, said Dismore was cutting through the G-1 parking lot when it happened.
"He was grabbed and essentially pulled into … Euclid Street," Fey said.
Dismore was taken to Ball Memorial Hospital after the attack, which was reported around 10:15 p.m. Wednesday. He was later brought to the University Police Department to be interviewed further.
Dismore's cell phone was stolen during the encounter.
Fey said he didn't find it any coincidence that a student was robbed during Finals Week. However, he said he couldn't recall any case like it here on campus.
Fey said the individual who robbed Dismore is described as being 6 feet tall, stocky in build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and white shorts. He said Dismore described the assailant as having a dark complexion.
Fey warned when walking at night, students should be aware of their surroundings and who might be behind them.
"Whether it's at home or on campus, beware of where you are and beware of the hour," he said.
